Garner, North Carolina
Garner Real Estate
Garner is on the verge of becoming the hottest growth corner in the Research
Triangle area. Because of its proximity to Downtown Raleigh, Raleigh-Durham
International Airport, and the Research Triangle Park, Garner is a popular choice
for many workers who are looking to buy a home and raise their family in a safe,
affordable, and convenient location. People are finding that Garner is more
accessible and has more elbow room than many Triangle residential areas.
Residential growth is beginning a surge very similar to what was experienced a few
years ago. Families and individuals can find the home they've longed for in
Garner, from an entry-level first home to a medium-sized family home, to a modern
amenity-laden executive level home. Homes in Garner, and the surrounding area,
currently have an average selling price of $169,000. The average size lot is
estimated to be around three-quarters of an acre.
Owning a home in Garner is a good investment, as projected steady growth in the
area promises to increase home value. In addition, in Garner it is often possible
to get more home for the money than in some other areas in the Triangle because of
lower land prices.
A recent survey showed that nearly 80 percent of Garner's residents own their own
homes, and the well-kept appearance of Garner's neighborhoods show that they take
great pride in home ownership. This high percentage also indicates community
stability and the commitment of Garner residents to the town and its welfare.

Garner History
Garner got its start with the coming of the railroad through the area beginning in
1847.
In that year, after a tie-breaker vote by the Speaker of the State House of
Representatives, what is now Garner was chosen as the location of a station of the
North Carolina Railroad between Goldsboro and Charlotte. "Garner's Station" was
established with the construction of a post office in 1878 and the Town of Garner's
Station incorporated in 1883.
